    Coach - Track & Field

Jerry Huhn graduated from Westmont College in 1966, where he was a three-time NAIA District Three javelin champion. He moved to Fresno in 1968 to assume cross country and track and field coaching duties at Fresno Pacific College.

In five seasons (1968-73) he guided the (then) Vikings to their greatest triumphs. His 1969 team—which featured sprinters Johnny Veal, Reggie Davis, Larry Salles and Jim Farmer—finished second in the NAIA District Three Championship, the best in school history. His 1972 squad finished ninth in the NAIA National Outdoor Championship in Billings, Montana. He followed that with a tenth place finish at Arkadelphia, Arkansas, in 1973. Perhaps his greatest moment came on March 17, 1973, when he guided the Vikings to an 83-80 dual meet win over the Fresno State University Bulldogs at Ratcliffe Stadium.

In all, he coached 31 NAIA District Three champions, 13 NAIA All-America honorees and three NAIA National champions. A true coach, he possess the rare gift of motivating others to excel beyond reasonable expectation. Since leaving Fresno he has been ordained by the Assemblies of God Church and served in a variety of capacities, including Christian school administrator, coach and church pastor.
