Hall of Fame
The most prolific scorer in the history of the storied FPU men's soccer program,
Edgardo Contreras was a two-time GSAC Player of the Year (1998, '99), three-time All-American (1998, '99, 2000) and four-time All-GSAC honoree (1997-2000) during his career as a Sunbird.
Â
Contreras led the 1998 and '99 teams to GSAC championships and a combined 32-6-2 record. During the 1998 season, Contreras set a record for goals scored in a single game with six against Concordia. He scored 26 goals that season, good for most all-time for a single season at that time. Contreras now sits in second in single-season scoring with 26 in '98 and 2000.
Â
Contreras still holds several career records, most notably being the all-time leader in goals scored with 87. He is also the all-time career leader in points (201) and game-winning goals (24), and ranks sixth all-time in assists (27).
Â
Called "one of the most humble men to play in the FPU program" by head coach Jaime Ramirez, Contreras has gone on to have a successful career as a teacher and soccer coach at West Hills College.
