A Decade of Opportunity: Gregory Scholarship Changes Lives at FPU

Dr. Don Gregory's connection to Fresno Pacific University began more than five decades ago. As an FPU student-athlete, he competed in track and cross country before graduating in 1975. He is now a two-time inductee into the FPU Athletics Hall of Fame, recognizing an athletic legacy that remains closely connected to the university.

Ten years ago, Don and Karen Gregory chose to extend that legacy by investing in the student-athletes who would follow. Their goal was not simply to provide financial assistance. They wanted to help build a highly competitive distance-running program where Christian student-athletes could excel in competition, in the classroom and in their communities.

Established in 2015, the Gregory Family Athletic Honors Scholarship supports exceptional track and cross country student-athletes who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, character and a commitment to serving others. The Gregorys hoped the scholarship would allow talented local students to remain in the Central Valley while receiving a high-quality Christian education and preparing for meaningful lives after graduation.

A decade later, the scholarship's influence can be measured in more than dollars awarded, races completed or degrees earned. It can be seen in graduates who are building careers, serving their communities, raising families and carrying the values developed at FPU into the next chapter of their lives. Through those graduates, Don and Karen Gregory's investment continues to make a difference far beyond the track.
