AZUSA, Calif. –The Fresno Pacific men's and women's track and field teams competed for the final time of the 2018 regular season on Thursday and Friday, as the Sunbirds impressed at the Bryan Clay Invitational. FPU set two new school records and recorded several season-best times with the postseason beginning next week.

Kala McClain highlighted the Bryan Clay Invite with an impressive showing in the sprints. She recaptured her 100m school record from teammate
Brie Courseault, going 11.94 as the second Sunbird to run under 12 seconds this season. She earned an NCAA provisional mark with the sprint. McClain also had a personal best in the 200m with a time of 24.60, which is third all-time in program history.

In the 400m, four different Sunbirds picked up season bests with Courseault earning her school record back from teammate
Danae Manibog. Courseault crossed the finish line at 54.87 (provisional time), while Manibog was right on her tail at 55.11 (provisional).
Kyra Bailey (57.89) and
Sydney Rhoads (59.18) also recorded season-best times, with Bailey moving to eighth all-time at FPU.

Moving to the distance events,
Brianna Guerrero ran 4:51.65 late Friday night for a PR in the 1500m. She jumped to sixth all-time in Sunbird history. FPUÂ also received huge lifetime bests in the 5k from
Gracielita Bastidas (18:55.71) and
Karina Vidrios-Gallegos (19:02.45).

In the triple jump,
Gianna Cassinerio recorded a mark of 37-05.75 (11.42m) for a season best. She improved her standing in the all-time record book at FPU to eighth. Also on the field,
Annie Regier cleared 5-05.75 (1.67m) in the high jump, while
Nikki Crouch had a solid day in the pole vault and cleared 11-02.25 (3.41m).

The men's meet was highlighted by a stellar race from
Alex Torres in the 5k. The junior closed with a time of 14:44.69, which is good for second all-time in program history. Teammates
Jonathan Matson (15:29.58) and
Manuel Carranza (16:05.17) also went lifetime-best times in the event.

Sticking with the distance events,
Josh Zavala ran a lifetime best in the 800m at 1:55.62.
Adam Gonzalez-Angulo also impressed in the 1500m with a time of 4:00.73.

Sprinter
Andre Woodson set a new season best in the 200m dash, as the transfer finished with a time of 21.82. The time is ninth all-time in program history.
Michael Taylor continued his progression in the 400m, as the senior once again improved his season-best time to 47.63. He is looking to peak right as postseason arrives.

Scott Hickam also shined for FPU at the meet, as the senior smashed a big 400-meter hurdles time (52.93). He stays at fourth all-time, but improved his mark, and also picked up a provisional mark for NCAA's.

In the field, the Sunbirds received season-best marks from four different athletes in the long jump.
Elijah McDowell (21-10.25) highlighted the group, and was followed by
Julian Gonzalez (20-07.75),
D.J. Maxwell-Garcia (20-07.75) and
Sam Burt (20-02.50). In the shot put,
Clint Harris had a season-best mark of 40-02.00.

The meet was capped off by strong races in both relays for the men. Woodson,
Lawrence Cairo Jr.,
Armon Plummer and Taylor ran 41.47 in the 4x100m to improve their best time of 2018, which is also good for fifth all-time at FPU. Meanwhile, the 4x4 relay of Hickam, Cairo Jr., Plummer and Taylor picked up an NCAA provisional mark of 3:12.89. The group holds the school record that was set last season at the PacWest Championships.

The Sunbirds will now turn their focus to the conference championship meet, which is being hosted at FPU Track from April 27-28.
