FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific women's water polo team topped Toronto 10-6 to secure their first victory of the season before dropping their second match of the day to #24 California Baptist 15-10.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Game One
• FPU opened up the scoring in game one with two quick goals from
Jenna Collins and
Katie Kisling.
• The second period saw four straight Sunbird scores to put Team FPU firmly in the driver's seat.
• The Varsity Blues attempted to mount a fourth period comeback, tacking on three late goals, but the 'Birds fended them off to seal the victory.
Game Two
• FPU played the nationally ranked Lancers evenly throughout the first half, exchanging goals back and forth for a 7-7 tally at the intermission.
• CBU came out strong in the third period, outscoring the 'Birds 4-1.
• The Sunbirds played tough, but two more goals were all they could muster in the final frame as they fell 15-10.
STATS:
Game One
• Sophomore
Katie Kisling led all scorers with three goals, while also snagging two steals.
• Other Sunbird scorers included Collins (two goals),
Emily Woodruff (two goals),
Amy Zaninovich,
Savannah Mangrum and
Sam Witt (one goal apiece).
• In the cage,
Madeline Frey tallied four saves and one steal.
• FPU went 4-7 on powerplays while holding U of T to 1-6.
Game Two
• Witt and Zaninovich provided an offensive kick for the 'Birds, as each recorded hat tricks of their own.
• Team FPU also received goals from: Collins (one),
Nonie-Ann Grant (one) and Kisling (two).
• The Sunbirds shot 10-17, posting a 58.8% shooting percentage on the afternoon.

BEYOND THE BOX:
• In five of FPU's previous 10 games, the Sunbirds have squared off against ranked opponents.
• Kisling and Witt both recorded their third hat tricks of the season, in games one and two, respectively.
