Sunbirds Battle Through Royal Rumble Finale

FULLERTON, Calif. – Wrapping up the final day of the Royal Rumble, the Fresno Pacific stunt team split the day with a loss against Trevecca Nazarene in the morning and a daring comeback in game two, defeating Arizona Christian to boost their record to 3-3 overall.

"Today we faced some setbacks," said head coach Alyssa Troutt. "But these young women fought through adversity with so much heart. Their resilience and determination was on full display, and I couldn't be more proud to be their coach. They continue to grow stronger every time they step on the mat."
 
GAME 1 | FPU 11, TNU 27

Trevecca Nazarene was a challenging opponent in the fifth matchup of the week for the 'Birds. The first quarter opened with Trevecca taking a two-point lead, 2-4. The Sunbirds scored an additional two points in Pyramids and Tosses, an impressive four-point count in Jumps and Tumbling and three more in the final quarter. By the half, Trevecca managed to pull ahead and sweep up twelve points during the Team Routine, ultimately winning the match 11-27.
 
GAME 2 | FPU 22, ACU 4

The 'Birds truly rallied in the final match of the tournament outscoring Arizona Christian in every quarter. Fresno Pacific collected three points in the first quarter and two in the second, keeping ACU scoreless up until the half. With a five-point lead, the Sunbirds continued to build momentum with a whopping five points in Jumps and Tumbling, making the score 10-1 at the end of the third. To add to the fire, Fresno Pacific earned 11 total points in the team routine, a season-high in the final quarter.

The 'Birds wrapped up the Royal Rumble with a perfect split down the middle, going 2-2.
