Box Score FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno Pacific men's tennis team competed in their second match of the season against St. Mary's College. Although the 'Birds put up a valiant fight, the D1 Gaels ultimately outscored FPU 2-5.
"We had some quality singles wins and tight doubles matches today against a very good division one opponent," said head coach Sam Gaeddert. "I'm happy with how the guys are coming together early this spring. They are starting to play for each other and it is showing. We look forward to returning to conference play against Jessup this Saturday."
Fresno Pacific battled throughout the lineup, earning key points in both singles and doubles play. In singles competition,
Tim Bangert and
Jordi Gonzalez secured the Sunbirds' two victories, each delivering composed performances to come away with wins for FPU.
The doubles pairing of
Emilio Seelbach and
Jordi Gonzalez added another highlight for the 'Birds, earning a strong 6–3 victory to showcase Fresno Pacific's competitiveness early in the match.
Despite those efforts, the Gaels capitalized across the remaining courts, claiming multiple straight-set victories to ultimately secure the 2–5 team win.
