Box Score SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The Fresno Pacific Sunbirds captured their first PacWest conference victory of the season 4-1 on Saturday against the Westmont Warriors.
The 'Birds took the doubles point with wins on Court 3 by Gregor Kliimask and Martin Ramirez 6-3 and on Court 2 by Ben Cronau and Sven Bangert 6-4.
Brodie Sodersten and Emilio Seelbach were up 6-5 on Court 1 when the point was clinched.
Ravi Nelson added the next point to the scoreboard for the 'Birds with a straight set victory 6-4, 6-3 on Court 1.
Another victory for Fresno Pacific came on Court 4 where Ramirez won the first 6-3 and battled in a tiebreaker to take the second 7-6 (9) for the 'Birds third point of the day.
The Warriors earned their lone point of the day with a victory on Court 2 keeping their hopes alive.
The win clinching match was on Court 3 as Sodersten fought for the victory winning the first 7-5, dropping the second 7-6 (5), to comeback to win the tiebreaker 7-5.
When play was halted, Bangert and Cedric Kaufman had both won their first sets and were on serve in the second.
The win is also the first road win of the season for the Sunbirds this season.
Fresno Pacific will return home for a non-conference match against the University of Texas-Permian Basin Thursday at 2:00pm at the Haak Tennis Complex.
