ROHNERT PARK, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific women's water polo team saw their win streak come to an end on Saturday afternoon as they dropped a WWPA conference matchup 14-13 to the Sonoma State University Seawolves. The loss evens up FPU's conference record at 2-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• It took a while for the offense to get going in the first period, with over three minutes passing before
Jenna Collins slung one into the back of the cage to put FPU up 1-0.
• The Seawolves responded with a 7-2 run to close out the half and take a commanding 7-3 lead.
• When the third period rolled around, the Sunbirds came out firing, receiving goals from
Katie Kisling,
Emma McBride,
Savannah Mangrum and
Andria Martin to bring the 'Birds within two.
• FPU's offense really kicked into gear during the fourth period, where they put up a total of six goals. They pulled within one with 0:41 left on the clock, but ultimately the Seawolves managed to hang on for the win. Final: 14-13

Savannah Mangrum had a nice day in the pool, posting a well-rounded line of three goals, four drawn exclusions, one assist, one steal and two shots blocked.
• Other Sunbird scorers included
Emma McBride, who recorded a hat-trick on a 3-3 perfect shooting percentage,
Andria Martin and
Jenna Collins, who each chipped in two goals, and Kisling,
Nonie-Ann Grant and
Sam Witt, who recorded one goal apiece.
• In the cage for the FPU defense,
Madeline Frey racked up seven saves.
• SSU's Hailey Gellert led all scorers with five goals and three assists.

BEYOND THE BOX:
• Fresno Pacific netted the first goal of the game in four of their last five matches. During that run, FPU has gone 3-and-2, highlighted by their 12-11 upset of Cal State East Bay.
• Mangrum upped her season total to 36 assists for the year. She sits at second on the WWPA conference assists leaderboard, just four out of the top spot.
• The Sunbirds and Seawolves will face off again in two weeks on FPU's Senior Day, hosted at the Sunnyside Aquatics Center.
