FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific men's basketball team heads to Hawai'i for two games this week. FPU will start in Hilo before hopping over to Honolulu for a Saturday game against Chaminade.

ABOUT THE SUNBIRDS
• Fresno Pacific will look to snap a four-game skid when the Sunbirds face Hawai'i Hilo on Thursday. FPU currently sits at 5-17 overall and 3-11 in conference play. The 'Birds most recently fell to Dixie State on the road last Friday, 87-74. FPU led at halftime but couldn't hold off the Trailblazers. Sam Burt led the way for the Sunbirds with 22 points and nine rebounds in the setback.
• FPU is currently averaging 74.3 points per night and is shooting .466 from the floor as a team, which ranks third in the conference. The Sunbirds also rank second in the league in assists per game (15.23).

PACWEST PRESEASON POLL
• The Sunbirds were picked to finish 11th in the 2017-18 Pacific West Conference standings according to a poll of the league's head coaches. California Baptist received 178 points and 10 first-place votes to top the poll. Dixie State was second with 169 points and two first-place votes. Following the two were Point Loma and Concordia in third and fourth, respectively. The Sea Lions garnered 161 points and two first-place votes, while the Eagles amassed 154 points. Rounding out the poll was Azusa Pacific (142 points), Chaminade (132), Hawai'i Pacific (121), Dominican (94), Biola (79), Hawai'i Hilo (72), FPU (63), Holy Names (43), Academy of Art (37) and Notre Dame de Namur (25).

ABOUT THE VULCANS
• Hawai'i Hilo enters on a six-game losing streak, most recently falling to Point Loma 85-62. The Vulcans received 14 points from Devin Johnson in the setback, as the big man returned after missing two games with an injury he suffered in the opening minutes when the Vulcans visited the Sunbirds.
• UHH is currently averaging 74.1 points per game, while the defense is allowing 82.5 (last in the PacWest). Trey Ingram is the team's leading scorer (16.8 ppg), while Ryley Callaghan (13.4 ppg) and Devin Johnson (10.5 ppg) are also averaging double-digits in scoring.

• The Sunbirds and the Vulcans are even at 4-4 in the all-time series. FPU defeated UHH in Fresno on Saturday, Jan. 13, 105-92, in the last meeting. Five Sunbirds scored in double-figures, led by Elijah Hill's 23 points, seven assists and three steals.
 
ABOUT THE SILVERSWORDS
• Chaminade hosts Dixie State on Thursday prior to Saturday's game against FPU. The Silverswords currently hold a 13-6 overall mark and are 8-4 in the PacWest. CUH most recently defeated Hawai'i Pacific 73-65 in Honolulu last Saturday.
• The Silverswords currently average 79.6 points per game, which ranks second in the conference. Austin Pope (14.9 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 4.9 apg) and Erik Scheive (14.3 ppg, 5.2 rpg) are the one-two punch for CUH offensively.
