ABOUT THE SUNBIRDS
• The Sunbirds will look to snap a three-game skid on Friday. The Sunbirds most recently fell to Notre Dame de Namur 84-76 on Saturday despite a huge double-double of 19 points and 15 rebounds from Sam Burt. FPU led 37-33 at halftime, but couldn't overcome a sluggish second half.
• FPU enters as one of the top offenses in the league, as the 'Birds lead the conference in total assists (324) and rank second in field-goal percentage (.469). Jake Straughan and Sam Burt lead the team in scoring average (12.9 ppg), while Burt is leading the team in rounding (7.7 rpg) and Straughan is leading the PacWest in three-pointers made (56). Freshmen Adrian Antunez and Elijah Hill are adding 11.1 points per night and average over seven combined assists per game.

• The Sunbirds were picked to finish 11th in the 2017-18 Pacific West Conference standings according to a poll of the league's head coaches. California Baptist received 178 points and 10 first-place votes to top the poll. Dixie State was second with 169 points and two first-place votes. Following the two were Point Loma and Concordia in third and fourth, respectively. The Sea Lions garnered 161 points and two first-place votes, while the Eagles amassed 154 points. Rounding out the poll was Azusa Pacific (142 points), Chaminade (132), Hawai'i Pacific (121), Dominican (94), Biola (79), Hawai'i Hilo (72), FPU (63), Holy Names (43), Academy of Art (37) and Notre Dame de Namur (25).

ABOUT THE TRAILBLAZERS
• Dixie State currently sits atop the conference standings with a 10-2 record in PacWest play and 13-6 overall mark. The Trailblazers have won seven straight, most recently topping Academy of Art 61-47 in San Francisco on Saturday.
• DSU averages 77.6 points per night, which ranks third in the PacWest. Trevor Hill is leading the team in scoring (16.6 ppg), rebounding (5.7 rpg) and assists (4.9 apg).
 
SERIES HISTORY
• FPU trails 8-1 in the all-time series with Dixie State. The Sunbirds won the first-ever meeting on Dec. 8, 2012 (82-80), but have since fallen the last eight times to the Trailblazers. DSU won the last meeting 76-73 in Fresno on Jan. 3, 2017.
