Sunbirds Continue Homestand with Three-Game Week

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific men's basketball team continues its five-game homestand this week with three games.

ABOUT THE SUNBIRDS
• Fresno Pacific enters the game on Monday afternoon at 5-13 overall and 3-7 in the PacWest. The Sunbirds snapped a five-game skid on Saturday with a 105-92 win against Hawai'i Hilo. Five 'Birds scored in double-figures in the win, led by Elijah Hill's 23 points and seven assists. Aamondae Coleman added 21 points and 13 rebounds, Adrian Antunez chipped in with 17 points and six assists and Sam Burt added a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds.
• The Sunbirds are currently averaging 74.4 points per game and rank second in the league in field-goal percentage at .476 and assists per game at 15.17. Sam Burt is leading the team in scoring (13.1 ppg) and rebounding (7.5 rpg). Jake Straughan ranks second in the PacWest in three-pointers made (47) and adds 12.9 points per game, Elijah Hill averages 11.2 points and 4.0 assists per game, and Adrian Antunez is adding 10.5 points and 3.3 assists per night.

PACWEST PRESEASON POLL
• The Sunbirds were picked to finish 11th in the 2017-18 Pacific West Conference standings according to a poll of the league's head coaches. California Baptist received 178 points and 10 first-place votes to top the poll. Dixie State was second with 169 points and two first-place votes. Following the two were Point Loma and Concordia in third and fourth, respectively. The Sea Lions garnered 161 points and two first-place votes, while the Eagles amassed 154 points. Rounding out the poll was Azusa Pacific (142 points), Chaminade (132), Hawai'i Pacific (121), Dominican (94), Biola (79), Hawai'i Hilo (72), FPU (63), Holy Names (43), Academy of Art (37) and Notre Dame de Namur (25).

ABOUT THE COUGARS
• Azusa Pacific currently sits at 11-6 overall and 7-2 in league play. The Cougars most recently fell to California Baptist, 75-69, on Saturday in Riverside.
• APU is fourth in the league in scoring margin (4.6) and scoring defense (70.8). Darien McClain leads Azusa Pacific in scoring at 17.1 points per game, while Petar Kutlesic adds 11.6 points and 8.8 rebounds per night.
 
SERIES HISTORY
• FPU trails 76-24 to APU in the all-time series. The Sunbirds fell to the Cougars on Jan. 3, 87-64, despite 21 points and six rebounds from Aamondae Coleman.
 
ABOUT THE SILVERSWORDS
• Chaminade plays at Academy of Art on Monday prior to Thursday's game against FPU. The Silverswords currently hold a 10-4 overall mark and are 5-2 in the PacWest. CUH most recently defeated Notre Dame de Namur 67-53 in Honolulu on Friday.
• The Silverswords currently average 80.7 points per game, which ranks second in the conference. Erik Scheive (15.5 ppg, 5.5 rpg) and Austin Pope (14.5 ppg, 6.6 rpg) are the one-two punch for CUH offensively.

• Notre Dame de Namur currently sits at 2-11 overall and 1-7 in the PacWest on the season. The Argonauts host Hawai'i Hilo on Monday prior to Saturday's game in Fresno. NDNU most recently fell to Dixie State, 77-56, on Saturday at home.
• NDNU is struggling to find any rhythm offensively, as the Argos rank last in the PacWest in scoring offense (59.0 PPG). Chazz Wade leads the team in scoring at 11.9 points per game.
 
SERIES HISTORY
• FPU holds a 16-3 all-time advantage over NDNU. The Argos defeated the Sunbirds in Belmont, 79-73, on Nov. 30.
