Men’s Hoops to Face Biola, Holy Names Before Christmas Break

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific men's basketball team will face Biola and Holy Names in PacWest action before heading into the Christmas break.

ABOUT THE SUNBIRDS
• FPU currently sits at 3-8 overall and 1-2 in conference action. The Sunbirds are coming off an 85-44 win over West Coast Baptist on Monday. FPU dominated inside and out-scored the Eagles 58-4 in the paint. Jake Straughan led the Sunbirds with 19 points and five threes, while Sam Burt added a double-double of 18 points (8-11 FG) and 14 rebounds.
• The Sunbirds are scoring 75.2 points per night while shooting an impressive .495 from the floor, which tops the PacWest. Straughan and Sam Burt lead FPU in scoring at 13.5 points per game. Straughan has made at least one three in nine of 11 games this season, while Burt has totaled four double-doubles. Burt ranks second in the conference in field-goal percentage (.636) and is third in the PacWest in total rebounds (92, 8.4 rpg).

AWESOME ANTUNEZ
Adrian Antunez has been named the PacWest Freshman of the Week twice this season (12/11, 11/13). The Clovis West product is the only player in the conference to be a repeat selection. He is currently averaging 10.5 points, 3.1 assists and 2.9 rebounds per night, while ranking second in the conference in steals per game at 1.7.
 
PACWEST PRESEASON POLL
• The Sunbirds were picked to finish 11th in the 2017-18 Pacific West Conference standings according to a poll of the league's head coaches. California Baptist received 178 points and 10 first-place votes to top the poll. Dixie State was second with 169 points and two first-place votes. Following the two were Point Loma and Concordia in third and fourth, respectively. The Sea Lions garnered 161 points and two first-place votes, while the Eagles amassed 154 points. Rounding out the poll was Azusa Pacific (142 points), Chaminade (132), Hawai'i Pacific (121), Dominican (94), Biola (79), Hawai'i Hilo (72), FPU (63), Holy Names (43), Academy of Art (37) and Notre Dame de Namur (25).

ABOUT THE EAGLES
• Biola currently sits at 5-5 overall and 0-3 in league play. The Eagles are in the midst of a three-game skid, but hold a perfect 4-0 record at home this season. BU most recently fell 75-70 to Concordia in Irvine last Saturday.  
• BU is averaging 69.3 points per game and is shooting .471 as a team. Levi Auble leads the team with a 16.0 points per game average, which ranks eighth in the PacWest. Trevor Treinen (14.6 ppg) and Blake Shannon Jr. (10.4 ppg) also average double-digits in scoring, while Isaiah Jones leads the team in rebounding (6.8 rpg).
 
SERIES HISTORY
• Biola holds a 62-26 all-time advantage over the Sunbirds. The two teams last met as GSAC rivals in 2012, with the Eagles pulling out a 64-62 win in Fresno.
 
ABOUT THE HAWKS
• Holy Names currently sits at 4-7 overall and 1-2 in league play. The Hawks host Azusa Pacific on Saturday ahead of their matchup with the Sunbirds on Monday. HNU most recently fell to Academy of Art, 76-58, on Dec. 10.
• The Hawks are averaging 68.3 points per night, but leads the conference with a plus 2.18 turnover margin. HNU has three players scoring in double-figures, led by Alonzo Taylor's 14.4 points per game average.
 
SERIES HISTORY
• FPU holds a 22-7 all-time advantage over HNU. The Sunbirds defeated the Hawks, 77-72, on Dec. 2 behind Straughan's 15 points.
