Sunbirds drop opener of Las Vegas Classic to No. 5 Hawaii Pacific

Las Vegas, Nev. -- Fresno Pacific had its two-match winning streak snapped by Division II power, and the fifth ranked team in the country, Hawaii Pacific 8-1 in the Las Vegas Spring Tournament.

Brendan Aguilar scored the lone point for Fresno Pacific with a 0-6, 7-6 (7-4), 10-7 win over Mattis Wetzel at No. 4 singles. Fellow freshman Leonardo Urquidi nearly scored the Sunbirds a second point taking a one-set lead over Adriano Locorotondo before retiring in the second set.

The Sunbirds will next take on the second ranked team in the country in Armstrong Atlantic tomorrow on day two of the Las Vegas Spring Tournament.
