Fresno Pacific lost to Azusa Pacific for the first time since a 1-5 loss on May 4, 2007 in the NAIA Tournament.

The Sunbirds fell behind early after dropping the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles matches and the Cougars took a 2-1 lead headed into singles play.

Amarit Sanchez and Michael Tymkiw earned the Sunbirds their only point in doubles play with a tight 9-8 win.

No. 22 Kirill Sinitsyn lost his first match of the season at No. 1 singles falling to the No. 6 singles player in the country Jochem Hoefnagels in straight sets 2-6, 1-6.

Stefan Loop and Marco Gabriel both won their singles matches at No. 5 and No. 6. Sanchez won the final singles match of the day at No. 2 7-6, 7-6 over Frederik Wilkens in the longest match of the day.

Fresno Pacific is back in action this Saturday at home against Sonoma State.
