Box Score Box Score

Merced, Calif. - Malcolm Griffin had 19 points and 10 assists and Jackson Carbajal added 18 points to lead FPU past UC Merced 95-64 on Saturday. All five starters finished in double figures with Jonathan Jefferson posting a double-double of 10 points and 15 rebounds.

FPU jumped out to a 55-23 halftime lead, shooting 75% in the first half, and never looked back, getting back in the win column after a 69-67 setback last night.

"It was nice to see our guys playing together and with a little more focus tonight," said head coach Chris Wright. "We moved the ball a lot better. It's hard when you're breaking in a lot of new guys but I definitely thought we got better as a team tonight. We've got to stay hungry, have a good week of practice this week and get ready our tournament at Sonoma."

The Sunbirds shot 63% on the night while holding the Bobcats to 24% and out-rebounding UCM 56-30. Phil Jackson added 15 points and Trevon Clayton had 13.

Michael Pierick led the Bobcats with 27 points. The Sunbirds improved to 5-0 all-time against UC Merced.

FPU travels to Sonoma State next weekend for the Ron Logsdon Classic where they'll take on Cal State East Bay and Sonoma State.
