FRESNO, CA. - The No. 23 ranked FPU men's basketball team came from behind to defeat Westmont College 94-89 Thursday evening in GSAC tournament play. After trailing for much of the game and down ten points at the half, the Sunbirds came out to play a solid second period and went on to secure the four-point win.

Senior guard James Lewis Jr. was efficient again with a 21-point performance while going 8-11 from the field in the contest.

Fellow senior guard Jesse Childs was also solid with 16 points and 10 assists on the night while Alex Davenport chipped in as well with all of his 15 points coming in the first half of play to help keep the game in reach for the Sunbirds.

Junior forward Jordan Wild and senior forward Todd Brown also put up double digits. Wild netted 14 points and dished out 4 assists while Brown had 13 points, respectively.

"Westmont is a good team," confirmed FPU assistant coach Chris Wright, "and they deserve to be in the national tournament."

"Tonight was an extremely high level game and our guys responded. We were down ten at halftime, and came out to play a great second period," Wright added.

With the win, the Sunbirds improve to 24-7 and advance to the semi-finals of the GSAC tournament to face #1 seed Concordia University (29-2). The game is scheduled to be played this Saturday March 6th at host Biola University with tip-off set for 7:30 pm.
