Biography
Personal - James was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA...He is the son of Deborah Lewis...His nickname is "JR"...His favorite athlete is Kobe Bryant...His favorite movie is "Scarface"...He enjoys spending time with family and friends...James is a Kinesiology major...He hopes to play professional basketball in the NBA someday.
Prior to FPU - James is a graduate of Hamilton High School...He transfered to FPU from LA Trade Tech Junior College...He averaged 15 points per game and was named Junior College All-State Playoffs MVP as a sophomore.
As a junior (2008) - James was a valuable addition to the Sunbird squad in the 2008-09 season...He led the Sunbirds in scoring...He averaged 19.3 points per game and was a key contributor to FPU's offensive prowess...His ability to penetrate with the dribble, distribute on the move, and shoot under pressure helped propel the Sunbirds to the next level...He shot 48% from the field to lead the conference, 39% from three-point distance, and a solid 86% from the line for the season, while establishing himself as one of the premiere NAIA players in the country...He received numerous awards for his stellar play, including GSAC Player of the Week (February 9, 2009) and GSAC Player of the Year, and was named NAIA 1st Team All-American...Notably, Lewis scored 37 points, snatched 12 rebounds and had 6 assists along with 2 steals, to help FPU win two key GSAC games...In those pivotal match-ups, Lewis was 15 for 31 (.484) from the field and 6 for 7 (.857) at the line for the week...Against Biola, he led the team with 20 points and 7 rebounds...Against Point Loma Nazarene, he scored 17 points and had 4 rebounds and 4 assists.
