Men's hoops downed by Westmont

SANTA BARBARA, CA. - The No. 15 ranked FPU men's basketball team had an eight-game winning streak broken Tuesday evening at Westmont College following a 67-63 loss to the Warriors inside Murchison Gymnasium.

Senior guard James Lewis Jr. led the Sunbirds in scoring with 17 points on the night, while senior forward Todd Brown chipped in as well with 12 points and 10 rebounds in the contest.

Senior forward Craig Ash also put up double-digits with 11 points and 7 boards.

With the loss the Sunbirds fall to 12-6 in GSAC play (22-6 overall) and move into a three-way tie for third place in conference standings with Westmont (20-7) and Azusa Pacific (19-9).

"Tonight was a tough loss, there's no way around that," acknowledged FPU assistant coach Chris Wright

"No one is going to feel sorry for us and now we have to get ready to play on Saturday. Playing the number two ranked team in the country (Concordia) will provide us with another great opportunity," Wright added.
