FRESNO, CA. - The Fresno Pacific men's basketball team earned a huge win by defeating #3 ranked Biola University 81-61 Tuesday evening.
The Sunbirds jumped out to an early 6-0 lead to open the game, and continued to keep the Eagles at bay during the first half of play to take a commanding 45-21 lead into the break.
FPU had five players shoot in double-digits to help secure the victory against the nationally ranked Biola squad, and gave the Eagles (20-2) their second loss of the season.
"We had some big performances from some guys tonight," credited FPU assistant coach Chris Wright. "Biola is a heck of a team and for us to control the game the way we did was phenomenal."
Senior guards
James Lewis Jr. and
Alex Davenport led FPU in scoring. Lewis netted 20 points, while Davenport put up 17, and was strong in the paint with 8 boards.
Fresno Pacific seniors
Craig Ash and
Jesse Childs also contributed with 12 points apiece, and senior
Todd Brown chipped in with 10 on the night.
"We have eight league games left and we have to continue to take them one at a time," Wright added. "Every single one is huge from here on out."
The Sunbirds now improve to 17-5 overall, and 7-5 in the GSAC.
