Men's hoops upsets #16 Azusa Pacific

AZUSA, CA. - The #25 ranked Fresno Pacific men's basketball team defeated #16 Azusa Pacific 85-75 Tuesday evening in Azusa, CA.

FPU took the early advantage going into the lockeroom at the half with a 46-33 lead after shooting 54.5% from the field and 44.4% from behind the arc.  

Five Sunbirds scored in double-digits with senior guard Alex Davenport leading the way with 21 points and 7 boards in the contest.

Senior guard James Lewis Jr. put up 19 on the night while senior forward Todd Brown netted 17 points and snagged 5 rebounds.

Senior Craig Ash was strong in the paint with 7 boards and scored 13 points, and junior Jordan Wild rounded up the double-firgures scorers with 11 points and 5 rebounds.

"Tonight was a great win for us," said FPU assistant coach Chris Wright. "We came out focused and really competed. Over the years Fresno Pacific hasn't had much success here, so to leave with a win tonight in a game of this magnitude is a great feeling."
 
With the win, FPU improves to 10-5 in GSAC play and 20-5 overall.
