FRESNO, CA -- In a battle of national championship teams, Fresno Pacific downed UC Santa Cruz 8-1 in men's tennis on Saturday at Haak Tennis Center.

FPU won the NAIA championship last spring. UC Santa Cruz won the NCAA Division III title.

The Sunbirds swept the doubles and then got singles wins from Xavier Smith, Alex Gonzalez, Martin Vaisse, Denny Fafek and Maxime Adam.

Fresno Pacific defeated Hawaii Pacific 6-3 on Friday in its season opener.
