FULLERTON, CA. - The Sunbird men's basketball team defeated Hope International 74-52 Saturday evening in Fullerton, CA. Senior forward
Todd Brown led the charge for orange and blue with a 24-point performance, while FPU shot 51.7% from the field on the way to the win.
Senior guard
James Lewis Jr chipped in as well with 16 points and 8 rebounds on the night for the Sunbirds and fellow senior guard
Alex Davenport also put up double-digits with 10 points.
Fresno Pacific led at the half 35-25 and was able to hold the Royals off in the second period to secure the 22-point victory.
"It's always nice to win games on the road; that's never an easy thing to do," said FPU assistant coach Chris Wright. "We came out a little flat tonight, but put together an overall decent performance."
With the win, the Sunbirds improve to 20-5 overall, and 10-5 in the GSAC. Hope falls to 4-21 and 0-15 in GSAC play.
"Obviously, Tuesday's game at Azusa is as big of a game we've had all year. Whoever wins will be in the driver's seat for a national tournament berth," Wright added.
