COSTA MESA, CA. - The #7 ranked Sunbird men's basketball team overcame a ten point deficit with 5:06 left to play to send it into overtime, eventually defeating Vanguard 74-71 Thursday evening in GSAC play.
Senior guard Alex Davenport's layup with just :02 seconds left on the clock tied the game at 65 a piece, pushing the contest to OT.
Senior forward Todd Brown led the way for FPU with 15 points and was strong in the paint grabbing 10 rebounds. 
Senior guard James Lewis Jr. netted 14 and fellow senior guard Jesse Childs contributed 12 points and dished out 6 assists.
With the win, the Sunbirds improve to 12-2 on the season.
"This was a huge win for us," FPU assistant coach Chris Wright said. "Now we have a number of home games that we can hopefully take full advantage of and get on a roll."
Fresno Pacific has established a 22 game winning streak at home and will look to extend that number this Saturday (1/9/10) when the Sunbirds host Hope International. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:30pm.
