RIVERSIDE, CA. - The #7 ranked FPU men's basketball team was edged by California Baptist on Saturday evening, losing to the Lancers 72-64 in GSAC play.
After falling behind 5-0 to open the game, the Sunbirds came back to score 13 unanswered points and maintained the lead for the majority of the first half. FPU had a 27-26 advantage at the break, but the game was far from over.
Although Fresno Pacific scored the first basket to open the second period, the Lancers answered back twice to take a 30-28 lead, and would not trail again.
The closest FPU would get to reclaiming the lead was when they pulled within one point trailing just 65-64 with 38 seconds to play.
Despite the Sunbirds' late effort, CBU pulled away down the stretch to claim the 8-point victory.

Fellow senior
