FRESNO, CA. - The Fresno Pacific men's basketball team bounced back and earned a much needed win Tuesday evening after defeating Westmont College 67-61 in GSAC play. The Sunbirds' win comes following two disappointing losses FPU suffered last week against Azusa Pacific, and more notably, San Diego Christian this past Saturday.
"After Saturday's loss, our focus was to give a great effort 100% of the time," acknowledged FPU assistant coach
Chris Wright. " Tonight, our guys
did give a great effort and really competed which we were pleased with."
Senior guard
Alex Davenport led the way for the orange and blue with 18 points and four rebounds in the contest. FPU senior guard
James Lewis Jr. also chipped in with 13 points, while senior forward
Todd Brown put up 12 points and led the Sunbirds in rebounds with seven.
Fresno Pacific started the game well and established a 32-24 lead going into the halftime break. Despite being outscored in the second period 37-35, the Sunbirds were able to hold onto to the lead to claim the victory.
