FRESNO, Calif. - The 2nd-ranked Sunbirds dominated doubles play to net an 8-1 victory over No. 12 Point Loma Nazarene at the Haak Tennis Center on Saturday.
Fresno Pacific moves to 7-0 (4-0 GSAC) on the season, while Point Loma Nazarene falls to 4-3 (2-3 GSAC).
Jose Hilla (Fresno City College) and Fabio Silva's 8-2 win over the Sea Lions' Nelson brothers at No. 3 doubles started the doubles sweep for the Sunbirds.
After dropping the first set 3-6 to Joel Myers at No. 1 singles, Sunbird junior Fabio Silva stormed back to win 6-2, 6-3 in the final two sets for his seventh straight singles win (7-0) this spring.
Vicente Joli's 6-2, 6-4 loss to Point Loma's Curt Wheeler at No. 2 singles was the Sea Lions' only team point of the afternoon.
Fresno Pacific hits the road against GSAC rival No. 5 Azusa Pacific on Wednesday, March 4th at 2:00pm.
