Sunbirds have scoring balance in 75-71 win

FRESNO, CA -- James Lewis scored 22 points to lead a balanced scoring attack as Fresno Pacific improved to 10-1 with a 75-71 victory over William Jessup on Saturday (Dec. 19) in Rocklin, CA.

Craig Ash chipped in 14 points and 12 rebounds, Todd Brown 12 points and Jesse Childs 11 for the Sunbirds, who are ranked No. 7 in the NAIA. Adrian Hurtado scored 8 points.

Fresno Pacific shot 49 percent from the floor and outrebounded the hosts 36-30.

Sunbirds coach Jim Saia said his team was feeling the effects of the road, which included two games in  Montana earlier in the week.

"It was our third road game in five days," Saia said. "We did just enough to win. There wasn't a lot of energy."

The Sunbirds return to action Dec. 29 against Menlo in Atherton, then resume Golden State Athletic Conference play on Jan. 2 against Cal Baptist in Riverside.
