Men's basketball defeat Great Falls 85-50

GREAT FALLS, MO. - The #7 ranked FPU men's basketball team was on the road and defeated Great Falls 85-50 Tuesday evening in Montana. The Sunbirds were led by senior James Lewis Jr. who scored 22 points and had 5 rebounds in the contest.

FPU got out to an early lead with the help of Lewis' 20-point first half performance and led at the break 39-15. A solid defensive effort by the Sunbirds limited the Argonauts to just a 50 point total and helped close the game out for the 35 point FPU win.

"We played very well tonight and did a much better job executing," commended FPU assistant coach Chris Wright.

"We know we still have to get better but were very pleased with tonight's performance," Wright added.

Senior Jesse Childs pitched in with 13 points while junior Jordan Wild put up 10 points and grabbed five rebounds, respectively. Senior Craig Ash was also dominant in the paint with 10 rebounds and netted 8 points as well.

With the win, the Sunbirds improve to 8-1 on the season and will hope to continue to play well as they next face the 2009 National Champion Rocky Mountain this Thursday night in Billings, Montana. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30pm.
