CLOVIS, Calif.- School records fell and national times were posted at the West Coast Relays this weekend at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
On the men's side, Shemar Palmer tied a 58-year old school record in the 100m with time of 10.35, currently ranking him ninth in the nation. Later in the day, Palmer also won the 200m in 20.92 seconds.
In the field, Chavez Grey threw himself into the record books with a hammer throw mark of 175'11" (53.62m), which is fourth all time in the Sunbirds record books. Grey also went on to throw a lifetime best in the discus (51.48m) to move up to third all-time for the 'Birds.
In the javelin, the Sunbirds went 1-2-3 with throws from 2024 National Runner-Up Dejan Mileusnic (70.81m), Forrest Gray (63.78m, fourth all time), and Zach Sims in (60.82m, sixth all time). This now ranks the trio third, 19th, and 30th in the nation.
Back on the track, senior veteran Bo Olsen won the 800m in a near PR time of 1:49.99, ranking him in the top 20 in the nation. Rounding out the performances, Jonathan Biffle and Damian Smith went 2-3 in the 400m hurdles and freshman Monte Moore led all Sunbirds in the 1500m with a PR of 3:58.04 to win his heat.
For the women, the 4x100m team of Nydia Chance, Brianna Green, Shaniya Randolph, and Sariyah Copeland kicked things off with a time of 45.35 taking top spot, and seventh all-time. In the 1500m, Mattie Whipple improved on her second all-time mark with a time 4:36.29 and freshman Aly Chavez became ninth all-time coming in at 4:48.70.
In the 100m hurdles, Alexis Ranger-Dunbar continued her excellent senior campaign with a runner-up finish in 14.23 seconds, while freshman Cyan Haslip is now sixth all-time at 14.81 seconds.
The highlight of the day for the Sunbird women came in the 400m, taking five of the top six collegiate marks on the day, led by a lifetime best from Green in 53.77,now fourth all-time in the national sprint powerhouse program and currently ranked second in the nation. Randolph was next across the line in 55.07 seconds and is now eight all-time, followed by freshman Mikiyla Royal in a time of 55.90, good for 10th all-time.
In the 100m dash, the sprinters took three of the top four times on the day. Sophomore Nydia Chance led the way in 11.59 seconds, followed by freshman Riley Allen in second place in 11.89 seconds and Iyanna Fuller in fourth in 12.08.
Wrapping up the meet, the 4x400m relay team of Copeland, Randolph, Royal, and Ariana Vera won in 3:46.54.

The Sunbirds will head north to San Francisco for the Mike Fanelli Distance Carnival starting on Thursday, April 3rd and to Palo Alto for the Stanford Invitational Friday, April 4th.
