NEW ORLEANS, Lousiana – The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Associations (USTFCCCA) announced the National Athletes of the Week on Monday, April 6th.
Shane Bagley's standout performance at the Stanford Invitational warranted national recognition, clinching the Division II Male National Athlete of the Week honor.
Competing down at Stanford University, the junior from Lemoore, Calif. excelled in the pole vault, claiming the event title with an incredible mark of 5.60m (18 ft- 4.5 in)! Not only did Bagley break the school record in the pole vault, he flew to the top of the NCAA DII all-time list, landing at the No. 5 spot. He is currently ranked first in the nation, improving from his 5.35m mark at the Johnny Mathis Invitational to 5.60m in the span of a few weeks.
On Wednesday afternoon, the PacWest Conference also named him the Male Field Athlete of the Week.
Bagley joins fellow teammates
Shemar Palmer and
Dejan Mileusnic as the only members of the Fresno Pacific Track and Field team to be named USTFCCCA National Athletes of the Week! There is so much more in store for the junior as the team prepares for the PacWest championships held April 24-25th.
