FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno Pacific track & field team turned in a dominant all-around performance, racking up multiple event victories and podium finishes in an impressive showing at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational.
The Sunbirds set the tone early in the hurdles, where Cyan Haslip led a one-two finish in the women's 100m hurdles with a winning time of 14.30, followed closely by Avril Mendoza in second at 14.40.
Speed carried over into the relays as both the men's and women's 4x100 teams captured first place. The men's squad of Jerome Brown, Shemar Palmer, Aamir Smith, and Gus Remlinger clocked a winning time of 40.77, while the women's team—featuring sophomore Haslip, Mendoza, Mikiyla Royal and Shaniya Randolph—crossed in 45.92 to secure another victory.
On the track, Palmer powered to a first-place finish in the 400m (46.28), while Kenahdi Haslip added another win in the women's 400m with a time of 54.77. Randolph rounded out the event with a third-place finish (55.26). Royal continued the strong sprint performances, taking first in the 200m with a time of 23.76. All four athletes hit the provisional mark in their events.
In the field events, Brooklyn Epperley led the way with a first-place finish in the shot put (12.12m) and a runner-up mark in the discus (45.87m), yet another NCAA provisional mark for the newcomer. Malachi Carrasco claimed first in the triple jump (14.40m), with Aamir Smith placing third (14.21m) and Micah Vossler finishing fifth (13.80m). Julian Buchan secured his second pole vault victory of the season, clearing 4.90m, while Tevž Podlipnik added a second-place finish in the javelin (66.88m).
Additional top performances included Hudson Hergenrader placing sixth in the 110m hurdles (15.18), Riley Allen finishing sixth in the women's 100m (12.09), and Brown taking sixth in the 200m (21.75).
