FRESNO, Calif. - Head Coach
C.J. Haydock announced the signing of local star Abram Potts of San Joaquin Memorial High School.
The 6'3 guard comes to the Sunbirds after a storied career for one of the top high school programs in the state of California. In his senior campaign, he was named 1
st Team All CMAC while leading his team to a 25-7 overall record and CMAC league title.
"I chose FPU because when I visited, it felt like a great school environment with a strong basketball culture," Potts said. "I also felt that the basketball staff believed in me, and most of all, I wanted to stay home."
Potts prepped under long time local head coach Brad Roznovsky at SJM. For his club basketball he competed with the Fresno Wildcats under his father, Mike Potts, a fixture in the local basketball community.
"Abe is a highly skilled, multi-position guard who's best basketball is in front of him, "
Haydock said. "He's got great on-ball skills, shoots at a great clip, a good physical profile, and has so much growth available to him. We are really excited to have him representing our city."
Potts' career in Navy and Orange will commence in the fall of 2025, and he will join a Sunbirds team that features 12 returners, including their three leading scorers. He will become next in a long line of successful Fresno natives who chose to represent their hometown under Coach
Haydock.
"What I look forward to in my FPU career is competing for a great program and creating lasting memories as an athlete and student," Potts concluded.
