FRESNO, CALIF. - Fresno Pacific University is excited to announce an exclusive, multi-faceted media partnership with ESPN Radio 790 that will bring Sunbird Athletics to more listeners across the Valley than ever before. Along with broadcasting all of FPU's home Men's and Women's Basketball games for the upcoming season, FPU's home Baseball games will also be heard live this spring on 790 for the first time.
Additionally, the station will produce a weekly Sunbirds Sports Show airing Wednesdays from 6pm - 7pm that's set to debut in September. The show will feature weekly interviews and stories from FPU student athletes and coaches representing all 17 of FPU's NCAA Division II programs. Every FPU program will receive promotional support through the deal, with ESPN 790 agreeing to promote all home events throughout the year over their air.
"We are proud to partner with ESPN Radio 790 for play-by-play and to bring a weekly sports show dedicated to the Sunbirds," said FPU Athletic Director Kyle Ferguson. "This partnership is a fantastic way to highlight the commitment and success of our student athletes at FPU."
The partnership marks a return for both FPU's Men's and Women's Basketball programs to ESPN 790, who was their broadcast partner for the 2021/22 season. It is the first broadcasting deal of its kind for FPU Baseball, who are set to unveil their brand new Dan Martin Stadium and baseball complex.
Live broadcast coverage from FPU's Special Events Center will begin November 8 with the Sunbird Women's Basketball team competing in the Fresno Pacific Crossover tournament. The first home broadcast for FPU Men's Basketball will be November 16 against Nobel College. FPU Baseball coverage begins January 31 against CSU Dominguez Hills, and both ESPN 790 and sister station ESPN 1430 will be broadcasting live all day from the FPU campus ahead of Dan Martin Stadium's inaugural home series.
