THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific women's water polo was hit with a 16-11 loss to Cal Lutheran on Saturday before bouncing back with a 12-11 victory over Austin College. 
 
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

• Game 2: Fresno Pacific 12, Austin 11

HOW IT HAPPENED: 
Game 1 

• The Sunbirds and Regals each scored three goals in the opening quarter, but CLU went into the half with a 6-5 lead.
• Cal Lutheran scored five goals in each of the final two quarters to pull away and grab the win.  

 
Game 2  

• The Roos started the game with five first quarter scores, with Willow Brown, Sam Witt and Lily Dinis keeping the Sunbirds within striking distance. 
• FPU found the back of the net twice in the second quarter with goals from Amy Zaninovich and Tatum Benson but found themselves down 8-5 at the intermission. 
• The Blue and Orange cut the deficit to two by the end of the third quarter, and the fourth was all Sunbirds.
• FPU scored the final four goals of the day, with Witt tying the game and Benson coming up with the eventual game-winner. 

 
STATS FROM THE DAY:  

• Zaninovich totaled five goals for the day, while Witt let the team with six. 

 
BEYOND THE BOX:  

• Witt leads the team with 29 goals as one of four Sunbirds with at least ten on the season.
