FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific women's water polo team was tripped up on Saturday, falling 16-8 against Azusa Pacific in the first game of the Fresno State Invite.
 
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

HOW IT HAPPENED:  

• Willow Brown opened the scoring for the Sunbirds, but the Cougars struck for four straight goals before Amy Zaninovich was able to give FPU its' second score of the day. 
• Azusa Pacific outscored FPU 4-1 in each the second and third quarters, but the Blue and Orange exploded for five goals in the final stanza.
• Zaninovich, Rosemary Chapman, Amanda Briscoe, Alex Jasso and Tatum Benson each gave FPU a goal in the final six minutes of the match.

 
STATS FROM THE DAY:   

• Zaninovich was the lone Sunbird with multiple goals, tying APU's Lauren Hoyl and Shyanne Rainey for a game-high of three.
• Camryn Berra picked up seven saves in the cage for the Sunbirds.

• FPU has scored 35 total goals over their last four games.
