FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific women's water polo team returned to their home pool for the first time in 13 games, but were unable to earn the victory, falling to the George Washington University Colonials by a score of 13-11.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Sunbirds got on the board first with a goal by
Katie Kisling, and
Emma McBride added another before the first period was up to even the score at 2-2.
• GWU outscored the 'Birds 6-2 in the second to bring the tally to 8-4 at the half.
• The Sunbirds came out strong in the third, powered by
Amy Zaninovich's hat trick and two goals from
Hannah Gish, but it was not enough to overcome the Colonials, who held on for a 13-11 win.

STATS:
• FPU received goals from six different Sunbirds: Kisling, McBride,
Jenna Collins,
Willow Brown, Zaninovich, and Gish.
• With four goals against the Colonials,
Amy Zaninovich led all scorers.
•
Gracie Bishop and
Camryn Berra combined for eight saves in the cage for the FPU defense.
• FPU was held to 4-14 on Powerplay opportunities.

BEYOND THE BOX:
• Zaninovich's four goals upped her season total to 33, good for second most on the team. It was also the fourth time this season that the freshman scored four goals in a game.
• FPU has matched up against Division I opponents in each of their last eight games.
