FRESNO, Calif. –  Emily Knowles scored three times and Fresno Pacific held tough early against #11 UC San Diego on Friday, but the Sunbirds eventually fell 18-3 against the Tritons in Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) action.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Sunbirds scored twice in the opening period as each team exchanged goals in the early going.
• UCSD scored five times in the second quarter, however, to jump out to a 11-3 lead at the half.
• FPU struggled the rest of the way and couldn't find the back of the cage in the second half as UCSD earned the road win.

STATS:
• Knowles scored all three goals for the Sunbirds, which brings her total to five in the last two days.
Sam Witt dished out all three assists to Knowles.
• FPU was outshot 33-17 on the afternoon. The Sunbirds created 11 power-play opportunities, but were only able to convert once.
• UCSD received three goals apiece from Shelby Stender and Ciara Franke.

• Friday's game marked the Tritons first trip to Fresno on the women's side.
