FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific women's water polo team used five fourth-quarter goals to down Cal State Monterey Bay, 13-9, on Saturday afternoon in Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) play.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Sunbirds and Otters were tied at 5-5 after the opening two quarters.
• FPU then used two different 4-0 runs in the second half to take control of the game.
• In the final quarter, two goals from Julia Ponce highlighted the run to put the game away for the Sunbirds.
 
STATS OF THE GAME:
• Ponce and Emily Knowles led the offense for FPU with four goals apiece, while Sam Witt added three goals and five assists.
• Hannah Holly and Savannah Mangrum rounded out the scoring with a goal apiece for the 'Birds.
• FPU's Camryn Berra earned the win in the cage and totaled nine saves.
• The Sunbirds held a slight advantage in shots, 31-30.
• CSUMB received two goals and one assist from Olivia Woolery.
 
BEYOND THE BOX
• Witt's five assists marked a career best.
• FPU picked up their first WWPA win in program history in only their second conference game.
 
UP NEXT:
• The Sunbirds continue WWPA play on Saturday, Feb. 17 against Sonoma State. The game in Rohnert Park is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
