FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific men's soccer team will get its' first taste of the NCAA Postseason since 2015 later this week, when they face Cal Poly Pomona in the opening round of the West Regional. With a win, the Sunbirds would play host Simon Fraser on Saturday evening at Seattle's Interbay Soccer Complex.

The Blue and Orange enter the week as the fourth-ranked team in the six-team regional after having won their last five regular season games, outscoring opponents 20-6 in that span.
Anthony Velarde ranks fifth in the country with 48 total points and has recorded a goal or an assist in all but two FPU games this fall. Seven Sunbirds earned conference honors on Wednesday afternoon, including three (Velarde, Ravasio, Brumati) who were named to the All-PacWest First Team.

After capturing the CCAA's regular season crown for the first time in program history, Cal Poly Pomona fell 2-0 to #25 Cal State LA in the CCAA Championship game on Sunday, marking just the second loss for the Broncos since September 20. Midfielder Jimmie Villalobos was one of three CPP players to earn All-CCAA honors last week after leading the team in shots, goals and points this season.Â

About the Clan (17-1-0, 11-1-0 GNAC)
SFU suffered its' lone loss of the season last Thursday before rebounding with a 2-0 victory over MSU Billings to close out the regular season on Saturday. The loss dropped the Clan to fourth in the most recent edition of the United Soccer Coaches poll, their lowest ranking since the first poll of the year on Sept. 4. After leading Simon Fraser to their their consecutive GNAC championship, forward Mamadi Camara was named the GNAC Player of the Year to help the Clan dominate the postseason awards list.Â
