As a Redshirt Junior (2017) - played in all 18 games for the Sunbirds, including 17 starts....served as team captain....led the team in assists (13) while finishing second in goals (10)....scored FPU's first goal of the season and added an assist against Stanislaus State (8/31)....recorded his first career hat trick and added two assists to total eight points in 7-2 road win over Holy Names (10/9)....credited with game-winners against Holy Names (10/9) and Academy of Art (10/19)....only player in the PacWest with at least 10 goals and 10 assists....named as All-PacWest First Team selection....chosen as D2CCA All-West Region Second Team selection.

As a Junior (2016) - Redshirted for the Sunbirds.

As a Sophomore (2015) - Appeared in 19 games, making two starts for the Sunbirds....totaled nine points on one goal and four assists....recorded one goal and one assist in win over Holy Names (10/28)....tallied two assists in win over Concordia (10/31)....dished out an assist in wins over CSU San Bernardino (9/15), Chaminade (9/26), Academy of Art (10/14), and Azusa Pacific (10/17).

As a Freshman (2014) - Appeared in all 16 games, including nine starts, for the Sunbirds...totaled four points on four assists...recorded an assist in wins over CSU Monterey Bay (9/9), Point Loma (9/20) and Chaminade (9/27)...tallied an assist in a narrow defeat to Sonoma State (9/15)...amassed six shots on goal throughout the season, including two against Chaminade (9/27).

Prior to FPU - Played two years of varsity soccer for Miguel Ruiz at Reedley High School...earned League and Valley championships in 2010-11...named NYL Most Valuable Player, All-League First Team, All-Valley and Athlete of the Month his senior season...scored 33 goals and dished out 12 assists his senior season.

Personal - Parents are Antonio and Silvia Velarde...has two siblings named Eric and Christian...favorite food is pasta...enjoys watching Lion King...favorite musical artist is Drake...roots for Manchester United and his favorite athlete is Lionel Messi...hobbies include playing volleyball and video games...Anthony is a biology major with career goals to play professional soccer or become a veterinarian.
