LONG BEACH, Calif. - On Wednesday afternoon, the PacWest Conference announced the 2025 men's soccer postseason honors. Five Sunbird men received these all-conference honors for their contributions and efforts over the course of the season.
After an incredible regular season,
Zion Vaughn was the sole Sunbird to be awarded First Team All-PacWest.
The sophomore forward currently leads the team with nine goals, has tallied two assists, and played 869 minutes overall. He was named the PacWest Player of the Week not once, but twice after capturing dual braces against Hawaii-Hilo and CUI. He is currently sixth in the PacWest in conference goals (9) and eighth in points (20). Two of his nine goals have been game-winning shots, leading the team to triumph time and time again. At one point, he scored at least one goal in four straight matches. The University of the Pacific transfer has made quite the impression since making Fresno his new home.
The senior duo,
Julian Aran Martin and
Chris Macias, secured Second Team All-PacWest.
Defender Aran Martin is the team captain for the Sunbirds with 15 starts under his belt this season. He has scored two goals thus far, provided two assists and has a total of 1247 minutes on the field. Early in the season, he captured his first career brace in the 4-2 win over Hawaii Pacific, scoring both goals using his head. He was the first assist in the triple header goal that went from him to
Sean Williamson to Vaughn to make it 4-2 in the 5-2 victory over CUI. Defensively, he contributed to the two shutouts over Hawaii Hilo and Chaminade, which led to his second All-PacWest selection of his career. Â
Macias blazed ahead at the start of the year and hasn't taken his foot off the gas. He has tallied five goals this season, is tied on the team in assists (4), and had a game winning goal against Chaminade. The senior midfielder has opened the scoresheet for the Blue and Orange on several occasions. In the PacWest, Macias is ranked sixth in shots with 42 this year.
Lucas Ribeiro and
Bryan Lopez were named Third Team All-PacWest after their consistent performances this year.
The São Paulo native was named Team Captain for the Sunbirds last year and has scored five goals this season. This is his second All-PacWest selection as a Sunbird, having made last season's First Team after leading the conference in goals scored. This year he leads the PacWest with shots on goal, coming in with an impressive 25, and is fourth with 48 shots. The senior forward netted a brace in the 4-2 win over Hawaii Pacific, with one of the goals scored on a penalty kick.
Lopez had a remarkable showing against Dominican and CUI, tallying a goal and an assist in both conference wins. With six minutes remaining in the first half versus the Golden Eagles, Lopez tied the score after he sailed a deep shot into the right corner of the net using his left foot. He is tied first on the team with four assists and has started in 11 matches this season.
NEXT UP: The men have officially entered postseason competition. On Thursday, Nov. 12th, the Sunbirds have a rematch with the Point Loma Sea Lions in the PacWest Soccer Championships Semifinals at 11 am. The winner of the match will earn a spot in the championship match on Saturday.
