FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific men's basketball team opens PacWest play this week with three games in Hawai'i. The 'Birds face Chaminade on Thursday, Hawai'i Pacific on Saturday and Hawai'i Hilo on Monday.

PACWEST PRESEASON POLL
• The Sunbirds were picked to finish 11th in the 2018-19 Pacific West Conference standings according to a poll of the league's head coaches. The announcement was made Wednesday by the PacWest. Point Loma received 142 points and 10 first-place votes to top the poll. Azusa Pacific was second with 122 points and two first-place votes. Following the two were Concordia and Chaminade in third and fourth, respectively. The Eagles garnered 118 points, while the Silverswords amassed 104 points. Rounding out the poll was Hawai'i Pacific (99 points), Academy of Art (78), Biola (70), Dominican (53), Hawai'i Hilo (51), Holy Names (47), FPU (36) and Notre Dame de Namur (16).

ABOUT THE SILVERSWORDS
• Chaminade is 3-0 on the young season. The latest win came against Oakland City 99-64.
• The Silverswords hold the best scoring margin in the league at 15.3, while the offense is third in the league in scoring at 79.7 points per game. Grant Dressler (14.3 ppg), Erik Scheive (14.0), Jake Hutchings (14.0), and Tyler Cartaino (11.7) are all averaging double digits.
 
SERIES HISTORY
• FPU trails 4-1 in the all-time series with Chaminade. The Sunbirds lost 70-56 in the latest meeting between the two teams on Feb. 3, 2018 in Honolulu.
 
ABOUT THE SHARKS
• HPU enters at 2-1 on the 2018-19 campaign. The Sharks, who last time out defeated Oakland City 74-53, will take on Hawai'i Hilo on Thursday before hosting the Sunbirds.
