‘Birds Look to Extend Win Streak against Toros, Argos

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific men's soccer team is set for a pair of home games this week, hosting Cal State Dominguez Hills on Thursday before Notre Dame de Namur heads to Fresno on Saturday evening.

About the Sunbirds (7-1-1, 3-1-0 PacWest)
FPU picked up a 4-3 overtime victory against Academy of Art in San Francisco on Saturday to push its' current win streak to a season-best four games. Four different players found the back of the net against ARTU, the third such game for the Sunbirds this year. After assisting on the game-winner, Anthony Velarde passed former teammate Alvaro Nogales to move into third place on the program's career assist list. Velarde has tallied a point in all but one match this fall, and he enters this week in a tie for second in the PacWest Conference with 23 points.

Cal State Dominguez Hills 
About the Toros (4-8-0, 4-4-0 CCAA)
The Toros snapped a three-game losing skid last Saturday, rallying from a 2-0 deficit to pull out the 3-2 victory. Sophomore George Almeida went for a hat trick in the win, giving him the team lead in scores for the season. After Julian Tafolla-Cisneros tallied five saves on Saturday, the Toros rank third as a team in the CCAA in saves. Cal State Dominguez Hills has struggled away from home this season, posting a 1-5-0 record on the road.

All-Time Series
FPU is 3-3-0 in six all-time meetings against the Toros, including losses in each of the last two meetings. Last season in Carson, the Toros limited the Sunbirds' opportunities and scored a goal in each half to earn the 2-0 victory. The last time the two teams met in Fresno came in 2014, when an own goal in the 86th minute gave the Blue and Orange a 4-3 victory.
 
Notre Dame de Namur  
About the Argos (2-7-1, 1-2-1 PacWest)
NDNU played Chaminade to a 1-1 draw in Belmont last Saturday to pick up their fourth point in PacWest Conference action. The Argos have yet to win a game on the road this season, falling to Dixie State, Westminster and Cal State San Bernardino. Naia Graham has been a big part of the Argo attack, as his 3.75 shots per game rank third individually in the league.

FPU claims an 8-5-1 advantage all-time against the Argos, including a 4-2 record as league opponents and a 5-1 record in Fresno. Last season, NDNU picked up a 3-2 victory behind a hat trick from senior Esteban Berumen, who finished second in the league with 16 goals.
