FRESNO, Calif. — Following the conclusion of the 2026 regular season, the CCAA announced its men's soccer all-conference honorees Wednesday afternoon, with Fresno Pacific earning two special awards and three All-CCAA selections in its first year in the CCAA.
Zion Vaughn headlined the Sunbirds' selections, earning CCAA Men's Soccer Newcomer of the Year honors and a spot on the All-CCAA Second Team. The Chandler, Ariz. native made an immediate impact in the conference, opening the year with back-to-back braces to earn D2CCA National Player of the Week and FloCollege/CCAA Player of the Week recognition. Vaughn went on to score three game-winning goals, including the season opener against Cal Poly Humboldt, a victory over Menlo and the Senior Day win over Cal Poly Humboldt. He started all 17 matches he played and finished third in the conference with 10 goals and 22 points.
Preston Larger also made an impressive Sunbird debut, earning CCAA Freshman of the Year and All-CCAA Honorable Mention recognition. The Kingsburg native recorded his first career brace against Pacific Union College and finished the season with four goals and nine points. One of his most memorable moments came in the conference opener against Cal State San Marcos, when he scored an 88th-minute bicycle kick to prevent the Cougars from securing a shutout.
Joining Larger on the All-CCAA Honorable Mention list was defender Beau Brusseau. The transfer from Chico State scored the Sunbirds' first goal of the season during their 4-1 comeback victory over Cal Poly Humboldt. He also opened the scoring in FPU's 4-0 shutout of Chico State and gave the 'Birds an early lead with a goal in the first minute against Cal State Monterey Bay. Brusseau finished the season with three goals, seven points and 1,320 minutes played.
Vaughn, Larger and Brusseau played key roles in Fresno Pacific's inaugural season in the CCAA, helping the Sunbirds finish 10th in the conference standings. FPU closed the year with a 6-10-1 overall record and a 3-8 mark in CCAA play.
