SAN DIEGO – Fresno Pacific suffered its second consecutive Golden Coast Conference (GCC) defeat on Saturday, as the Sunbirds fell at #20 San Diego State 17-4 at the Aztec Aquaplex.

FPU falls to 9-11 overall and 1-3 in the GCC with the setback, while SDSU improves to 11-13 overall and 3-0 in league action.

The Sunbirds played a tough first quarter and opened the game with a goal from
Mikayla Scheer to lead 1-0. The Aztecs answered with two goals to hold a 2-1 advantage after the first period.

SDSU then took control of the game with a 5-0 second quarter to enter halftime up 7-1. FPU managed three goals in the second half, but it wasn't enough as the Aztecs closed out the win with 10 scores in the final two quarters.

Julia Ponce led the way for the Sunbirds with two goals, while
Emily Marr and Scheer rounded out the scoring with a goal apiece.
Courtney Hall tallied seven saves in the cage.

Caroline Israels and Alyssa Diacono led the Aztecs with three goals apiece. Rachel Mitchell headed up the defense with four blocks.
