HAYWARD, Calif. – Fresno Pacific couldn't overcome a slow start on Saturday, as the Sunbirds fell to Cal State East Bay 16-5 on the road in non-conference action.

FPU falls to 2-3 overall on the year with the setback. The Pioneers, who are currently receiving votes in the national poll, move to 5-6 overall.

The Sunbirds fell behind 8-0 to start the match and trailed 8-1 at halftime. The Pioneers put away the game with eight more scores in the second half.

Alyssa Stevens led FPU with two goals, while
Julia Ponce,
Hannah Holly and
Nia Apodaca rounded out the scoring with a goal apiece.
Courtney Hall made four saves in the cage in the first half and
Kaylin Drum added two in the second half.
