AZUSA, Calif. – Fresno Pacific concluded its regular season Friday with a 19-6 setback to Azusa Pacific. The Sunbirds couldn't slow the APU offense in a game that featured 25 runs, 35 hits and 10 home runs combined between the two schools.
FPU finishes the regular season at 32-18 overall. The Sunbirds will learn their playoff fate tomorrow after the results of the Point Loma and Dixie State series are released. APU, recently ranked third in the West Region, strengthens its playoff case with the victory and concludes the regular season at 32-18.
The Sunbirds tallied 12 hits on the afternoon, but couldn't keep pace with the Cougars' 23 hits and eight homers.
Steven Lozier collected a team high three hits for FPU.
Preston Scott knocked in three runs with a 2-for-5 day, which included a home run,
Nick Pate was 2-for-5 with a solo homer and
Baron Bower finished 2-for-5 to increase his hitting streak to eight games.
Starter
Austin Tatum took the loss for the Sunbirds to fall to 1-1 on the year. He allowed three earned runs in one inning of work.
Daniel Martin led APU with three home runs and seven RBI, while reliever Luis Martinez (2-2) earned the win.
