CLOVIS, Calif. – Fresno Pacific fell to #14 Pacific 10-2 in Golden Coast Conference (GCC) action Saturday as the Sunbirds returned home for the first time in 17 games.

FPU falls to 7-21 overall and 0-5 in conference play following the setback, while the Tigers improve to 12-9 overall and 3-1 in the GCC.

"I was really proud of the fight our women showed against a ranked team in UOP," said head coach Bryan Suhovy. "We came out a little timid in the first quarter, but once we got going we did some great things. We had trouble finding the back of the net, but we created and took some great shots."

The two teams played a tightly contested first half, as the Tigers headed into the intermission ahead 3-0. FPU held UOP scoreless in the second quarter.

The Tigers opened the second half with three consecutive goals to take control of the match. Julia Ponce found the back of the cage for the Sunbirds to make the score 6-1 at the end of three.

UOP extended its lead to 8-1 before Emily Knowles scored the final goal for FPU in the fourth period. The Tigers closed out the win with two straight scores to make the final 10-2.

Kelsie Harvey recorded 14 saves and one steal for FPU. The senior has now totaled 12 double-digit save performances on the season.

Mikayla Scheer and Kaitlin Fletcher added an assist apiece for the Sunbirds.

"We continue to be a competitor in our conference, but we are still looking for that first conference win," said Suhovy. "CBU next week is our last conference game and our Senior Night, so I am excited to see the energy we bring to the pool next weekend."

The Sunbirds take on the Lancers at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 18.
