SAN DIEGO, Calif. – FPU droped two matches on the road Saturday, as they continued to play top flight competition from across the nation. The Sunbirds fell to #20 San Diego State 20-1 followed by a tough loss to Brown 13-5.  

"We had two tough games today against strong Division I teams," said head coach Bryan Suhovy. "We came out sluggish against SDSU, our defense was solid in the first half but then we let them get some shots off we shouldn't have in the third quarter. Our offense had some good looks but we struggled to finish the opportunities we created. Against Brown, we came out much more prepared and we were a lot more effective offensively. We continued to show growth with our defense but struggled in the second half. All in all it was a good experience as we continue to grow and learn in our new conference." 

The Sunbirds began their day with a Golden Coast Conference matchup against #20 San Diego State. The Sunbirds put up a strong defensive effort with both Kelsie Harvey and Courtney Hall having three saves a piece. Mallory Rettig denied the Aztecs a shutout by scoring FPU's loan goal during the fourth quarter of play. 

In the second match FPU came out strong in the first quarter scoring three goals and trailing Brown by a single goal. However, a scoring drought during second and third quarters allowed Brown to extend their lead to seven. During the final quarter the Sunbirds regained their composure and scored two more goals. Rettig contributed two goals while Harvey had seven saves during the loss.

Fresno Pacific returns to GCC action on April 4 taking on the University of Pacific in Stockton.
